@ masterosok: Oh yeah, of course. There are some updates which cause problems.

I remember I had this issue too.....well, I know that these following two are ones that gave me problems:

* Update for Windows Vista (KB938979)
* Update for Windows Vista (KB932596)

IIRC, there are a few more. But these two are a real pain in this regard. smile

This looks very promising smile

Coincidentally, I will very shortly need to install a SATA hard drive in my V64 backup system for some other testing purposes, and the SATA controller driver I need for it is unsigned smilenod

So I can help test this thumbsup

Greetz everyone.

It's been a while since there's been any feedback, but no problem.

Concerning the progress, in regards to the driver signing issue and VBP, if Grav!ty wishes to he can update everyone here.

But from research on my end, I stumbled across this gem:

Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider 1.0

Check it out, and post back whatever results you've found.

Thank you very much for posting that Mike. It will be very useful to anyone running Vista X64.

Essentially the Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider 1.0 makes it possible for us all to "sign" unsigned drivers and by pass the driver signing requirements in that way. That "backdoor" was made available by MS to developers so they could test their software without having to submit it to MS for signing each time they made a change before releasing a final product.

The only downside (not really a downside in my opinion) is that one will have the text “Test mode” and “Windows Vista Build verbose” at the bottom right of ones desktop where the build and version number appeared on Beta versions of Vista.

The 'Test Mode' text does appear, but it is possible to get rid off. smile

I had posted it on page 1 of this thread, and I believe it should work even post-SP1....I will test it out soon.

B.T.W, the above link also sorts out users who've installed either the beta or RC version of Service Pack 1 (although, why anyone would stick with those when the final is available...is beyond me :p)

So, for those using SP1 final, you can get the watermark removal here:

Hey r2rX
thanks for the link to that Signed Driver Override application.

I ran it last night & ever since my 3COM unsigned (decorated by me) x64 Ethernet drivers work in Vista SP1 x64.

Since I'm not a member of the site that 'Test Mode' watermark removal tool is posted at, I cannot get it.
Thats OK, having the watermark is way less bother than pressing F8 every time I restart the PC.

Edit: I just remembered that it appears that after installing the Override app, the PC has gotten a tad slower restarting, has anyone else noticed that?

Hmm....well, I will provide a link for those who wish to have it:

Full credit goes to AlphaOmega from the 'My Digita Life' forum.

(B.T.W, if it is a problem to post this link, let me know...or a mod can remove the link).
