Hey guys,

My gf's brother's laptop is all infected with spyware and viruses. I thought I'd help him out by reformating it and do a clean installation of Windows XP. But unfortunately, his CD/DVD ROM is busted so it wont read any discs. I was on the boot menu of the laptop and it allows me to boot from a USB Drive. I was wondering how I can install Windows XP from a USB Flash Drive. I have a 4GB flash drive that I want use for this purpose.

Looking forward to ur suggestions/comments/tips!
Thank you guys! thumbsup

Should be able to copy the i386 folder from the cd to the usb drive and install it from there. If you start the install from inside Windows, go to the i386 folder and run winnt32.exe. If you start the install from dos, go to the i386 folder and run winnt.exe.

If possible I would format the drive and copy the i386 folder from the usb drive to the hard drive and then start the install using the winnt.exe on the hd.
