ok ive got 2 hd's(disk drives or w/e). C: hard drive is vista, D: hard drive is XP PRO SP3 and i have a partition on the first disk drive i believe which is gonna be E: of another XP extreme edition. problem is i cant boot up into drive D (XP PRO sp3). i have no problem booting up in vista or xp extreme edition. when i select INSTALL VISTA BOOT LOADER, of course vista boots up when i restart my pc, but when i select INSTALL LEGACY BOOT LOADER, the XP extreme edition boots up, it doesnt give me an option to boot up into D: hard drive, ive tried adding it in the manage os entries when i select legacy boot loader but it doesnt show up. so question is how can i boot back into drive D: the XP PRO SP3 OS.

Once you have it etup correct, you should not have to press Install Legacy or Vista Boot Loader anymore.

Get Vista to boot and follow the guide below. You will have to have mutliple entries for XP though...

hmm well i added a os and seleted D as the drive, rebooted and it said one of the 3 files were missin, so i copyed them from a xp cd, and then when it booted, it booted back into drive E. in my disk management drive E is listed as (BOOT) drive. i dont see how when i select to boot into drive D: it goes into drive E: if drive D: is by itself on the 2nd disk.

Does your XP boot and Vista Boot?

nvm i finally got it to boot into drive D:. the boot file was always pointing to my 2nd partition on disk 0 so thats why it kept bootin to the other partition (E drive. i fixed it.
