The repair option of previous Windows versions no longer exists for Windows Vista or 2008

Oh wait, do you mean that you have no Vista installation DVD ?
Or what ?
I'm confused.
It would be helpful if you could possibly provide details of how you created the dual boot setup on your computer

Firsty its not a dual boot, i have 2 hard drives, C: for windows and programs etc, and D: for games, music and backups. The only vista disc i have is a OEM one that came with the computer and that has no repair on it after selecting language and keyboard layout. Somehow after updating my bios bootmgr is not on C: but D:, try and boot from C: and i get a bcd error, boot from D: is fine........i just want to know how to get back to C: being the boot drive using vistabootpr.
if i look on disk management D: is down as system drive......which is confusing, also does vista need a partition?

Hmmm this is a confusing one ... :-/
Have you tried inverting the hard drive cables ?

Not touched any of the hard drive cables, before bios update everything was fine, C was the boot drive, D was nothing. So i'm stumped how my boot drive has switched, would installing vista again cure it you think? blank both drives and start again?
And does vista need a partition like xp did?

No, I mean have you tried inverting the drive cables as a possible solution for this ?
It would seem that somehow they have been switched, and this may be something you can try to "fix" it.
You could also try unplugging what you're calling the D drive, and booting with C alone (although at this level, the drive letters are irrelevant ).
And I'm not sure what you mean about "needing" a partition.
On the one hand, of course, Windows must be installed into a formatted partition ; on the other hand, no it is not necessary to split up a hard drive into various partitions of different sizes, you can just have a single partition using the entire hard drive. But this is just confusing the issue IMO
