He said "They only have Fry's" he is either going to have to order online or have enough info that when he goes into the store he will know what he is talking about, so he is going to have to have some suggestions as to hardware.
I am thinking he needs something like this..

Unfortunately he is correct about Fry's the people there are clueless. They appear to have a list of items for the day to sell, e.g. the sales add of the week and are instructed to sell off of it. I.e. If you come in for say the SAT-A controller card and they don't have that on the sales add, they try to sell you a harddrive or a graphics card because it is on the sales add and they want to sell you something.
I did check out Fry's online site and they are very limited as to that type of controller card, that is why I checked out NewEgg.

Yes, I think you're right -- and it doesn't appear to be on Microsoft's hardware compatibility list.
Useful tip -- when a product supports Vista, it has the Vista logo printed on the box
I guess you could *try* loading the XP x64 driver, it can sometimes work.
Go to http://www.byteccusa.com/driver.htm and click on the BT-PESAPA link. Save the unpacked contents of the archive to the USB flash key.
Make sure both the optical drive and the hard drive are wired to the card.
Then when attempting to run setup try and load drivers contained in the folder at \JMB36X\Floppy64
---
However it is unlikely to work, and yes I think the guy just lied to you
