Hei,
I purshased a new pc with vista home premium installed on it. I have been trying to install winxp on it for no use. I have made a partition for xp and i have changed the boot sequence in the bios, so that it will boot from the dvd player, but after rebooting i dont get the press any key to boot from cd or dvd.
Vista starts as usual. I have changed the dvd rom with an old one that i have used on an old pc, but that did not help at all.
I have read about downloading sata drivers for the mainboard and that stuff and integrating them into the xp cd using nlite, but the cd does not start so i guess that, that will be for no use, moreover i dont know where to find the sata drivers and afraid of ruining the whole thing.
The main board is an asus p5k. I have searched for the sata drivers on their site, but i get a bunch of stuff that i dont understand a thing of.
HELP please.

I don't know how to get your computer to boot from DVD or CD, but since you have an Asus board you should have a disc that came with the motherboard that has the drivers on it. There should be a place on the CD to "make disk" for the SATA drivers. You'll need a floppy or flash drive. Your computer vendor should be more than willing to help you get your computer to boot from CD.

ok, i found the make disk part, it says that i have to create a driver disk and that i have to insert a floppy disk drive/usb port. That is fine, but do u know whether i can integrate the driver on the winxp cd with nLite?

If you can get the computer to boot from CD/DVD you will be able to use the floppy drivers to install XP.
As far as nlite goes I have not tried that yet so I don't know.
Read this. F6 is the most important thing you need to know.
