Here's the rundown:

Win XP on original drive with PC, Vista Ultimate was on second drive I installed. The Vista drive has died (totally; no recovery works).

I'm still stuck with the Vista bootloader on the first drive. No problem just selecting "Earlier Version of Windows" to boot into XP, but it is a hassle. From what I've seen with VistaBootPRO, the directions say to boot into Vista and proceed from there.

Can I just install it on the XP drive and run with normal instructions, or should I just try the XP Recovery tool and repair the bootloader that way?

Thanks for any info!

Install VistaBootPRO in XP and then go to the Manage OS entries page, select the Vista entry and delete it using the red cross on the right. Then go to the System bootloader page and select Windows Legacy bootloader>All Drives and click Install bootloader at the bottom of the page.

That should get rid of the Vista entry.
