I've never been able to use either the 'time.nist.gov' or the 'time.windows.com' options to adjust the time through many years of different installs of XP and AV/FW, now using Avast and PCTools. The only reason I'm asking now is that my time is off by near two minutes.

I now just adjusted it manually though I'd like to know if anyone else has had this issue and how/if they fixed it. This is an ASUS A8N-E which is 3 years old so perhaps the battery is going. What do y'all think? TIA smile

I guess it could be your battery or perhaps your BIOS time settings are out? Not sure whether windows time overrides the BIOS time settings though or vice versa.

Mine seems to be working ok

Yup Graham, my BIOS is updated by changing the Windows time! I would have never thought that would be possible for some reason. Perhaps this is a good thing for me as now I know that time is being lost and perhaps I have the beginnings of a weakening of the battery. Still, it's only two minutes lost over 3 years.
