I've generally been avoiding the political discussions or candidate bashing but whenever I see the latest McCain commercial I start foaming at the mouth and my blood pressure goes up especially because, as a writer myself, I know how the facts can be twisted to sound like something completely opposite to reality. Believe it or not, I actually like some of what McCain has to say, but I KNOW his latest commercial so twists the facts that it is just full of lies designed to fool people. It's shameful. And it isn't even like Obama has done the same (not that it would matter -- two wrongs don't make a right) but he HASN'T.

JUST THIS MORNING, I saw that ad. I finally said to myself, "why on earth can't SOMEONE, anyone, debunk these lies?" I see them do this CNN and on some other news shows, but do the people who believe these lies actually watch those shows? Is the only way to get the truth out there for Obama to reply in kind with an ad responding to every single line in McCain's ad?

So...I saw this video today and all I can say is, wow!!! This vid is EXACTLY what I was imagining in my mind. The question is, will the people the ad is targeting also get to see this?

I was quite stunned by the blatancy of the lies. So much so that I haven't really figured how to respond. It makes me wonder how any thinking person will vote for the man. I mean just how different is his Presidency going to be? Will the world ever be able to believe what McCain says about anything?

Sadly there are many who are taken in and won't access the rebuttals.

Larry I think come November when the McCain engine starts to sputter on low funds, they'll hit back with "Fact Checks" - and by that point McCain will be helpless to respond with more lies.

These cheap tricks of playing in the mud are getting old; and it's scary how many people believe this crap. Granted, the Ads have gotten my attention at times, regarding small business. But after watching the clip above, it makes me even MORE confident I've made the right choice with Barack. Small businesses that make over a quarter million a year aren't exactly "small."

There is a rumor Obama might have taken in $100 mil in June (or maybe it was July). I'm sure that's a tad high, but that'd be pretty incredible if true.

You know, in EVERY campaign people cry out, "please don't run negative ads." In return, the candidates usually vow to do so and stay positive. However, at some point an ad runs that is negative and the other responds in kind, and so on and so forth. Then each side's supporters accuse the other side of "starting it," and by then nobody remembers who really was first anyway.

Well, guess what? In this case, it's an easy question to answer. Because it's easy to see that McCain started with the negative ads. Why is it so easy to see? Because Obama didn't respond! His ads remained positive and focused on what he will do. He has stayed on the high road, while McCain has resorted to the negative, fear-inducing "he will raise your taxes" ads that we predicted would happen months go here on this forum, long before they actually did so.

This ad is running over and over and over again. It's the only one I've been seeing from him -- in fact, the one running now is the 3rd variation on the same idea. The first two compared Obama to Paris Hilton. In the meantime, I'm watching for Obama's ads and they all focus on what he would do as President. They don't attack McCain.

It's just disgusting. And, again, I'll be honest with you. I didn't think McCain was all that bad. I was not one of these ardent Obama supporters who was anxious to attack McCain at every turn. I have not posted in this forum. But I KNOW these ads are filled with lies and, as an intelligent person, it so turns me off that anyone, let alone someone who wants to be President, would stoop so low as to insult the intelligence of every low or middle-income, senior, or small businessperson in America (which is what he's doing).

Exactly. And that's the saddest part of all.

Obama started running a few regional attack ads and the Republicans are complaining about it according to an article I read last night. Maybe they forgot all the ads that they ran that were likely worse than Obama's?

I saw the ones he did and I wasn't too happy with them. I was really hoping he'd stay positive. On the other hand, you're right, they were child's play compared to the ones McCain had been running.

The other thing is though that his are all only regional, and from what I read, it's fairly small regions, maybe a state at the most. I feel like McCains negative ads were all national seeing as they ran mostly during the Olympics. It would seem odd to run regional ads during a nationally televised show.

True. McCain's ads were so ubiquitous during the Olympics. I have seen Obama's ads but much less often. My TV market hits 3 states, PA, NJ, and DE.

I'm in the same market wink Though, I'm never around to watch TV really unless it's the weekend, and even then I don't tend to watch it all that often, at least not networks that play political ads. I doubt McCain even knows what the Science Channel or History Channel are whistle
