Can you try another screen or another video card? BTW, you should get a small battery backup if your power keeps going out or is dirty.

when you turn on the monitor what color is the power indicator? does it change colors when you turn on the cpu?

unplug the video cable from the cpu, your monitor should display the test pattern. if not maybe monitor took a hit.

initially the computer started and freeze after awhile {having winxp and vista} same happened after restarting. i had same experience with vista, untill it stops booting up. monitor is powered on and stays in "standby" mode dus color is black. like i have said computer starts but not sending no data to the monitor, and it stays like that until i shut down the system.

however, i have moved on to upgrade my system to something closer to this century. and solving the problem, i believe. i have been putting things the way they should be in the new system the whole day.

ASUS=M2A-VM-HDMI
AMD=AM2-5600-2.7GHZ
CORSAIR=2XGB
hope these would make me stay close to you guys lol

oooh, the 5600 is a good processor, if i might say so myself.

i had an old emachines that got hit by a power surge and stopped working, so i at least use data shields which trip on all my big electronics
