after sending my dead 8800gts card back to ebuyer for a replacement i discovered they didnt stock them anymore, so they gave me £205 store credit to buy a replacement, which since i bought my card just after christmas, was a little more than i needed for a new one of the same calabre.

so i was looking for a new one when i came accross this table, comparing the 9800 and the 8800:

so i'm a little confused as to why anywhere still stocks the 8800gts.

so i've found this 9800gtx which costs £133:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/147861

However i am also having a problem with my motherboard (asus p5n-e sli) in that the network adapters is having intermittent faults. Every so often it will tell me a network cable has been disconnected, and after trying to repair the connection it tells me that it can;t get a new ip address. If i try to disable and re enable the adapter it brings up a message box that says "connection failed!" (i'm struggling to find a way of explaining this, so if theres anything you need to know/don't understand, just ask)

so unless i find a fix for this problem i'm also going to need a new motherboard, so if anyone can suggest a good overclocker (from ebuyer so i can use my store credit) for less than £100 which is lga 775, and ddr2 compatable i would be grateful.

thanks for your help.

so im confused ... you need a vid car and a mobo ... or just a mobo?

vid cards i would look into the Nvidia 9800GTX+ or the ATI 4850 they are both about the same card performance wise. just depends on what you can find cheaper.

for mobos ...
Asus P5Q PRO P45 is pretty good
ABIT IP35 Pro iP35 heard good things about its OCing but have never tried this one out
ASUS P5K Premium WiFi-AP iP35 another good one

if ya need more recommendations just ask ill look more in depth of what they got later today

really? but the 4850 is about £20 cheaper than the 9800gtx+ (quickly looked at benches and 4850 is actualy better than 9800gtx+ in some cases, so its an easy choice i guess)

i was only looking for a new motherboard if i couldn't solve the problem with this one, because i would rather spend the money on a new case, so if anyone has any help it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks for the motherboard suggestions anyway, i will take a look because at the moment its looking quite likely i will need a new one because they sent out a replacement board which had exactly the same problem, but if i use a different model thers no problem, so i think its a compatability issue.
