i took the stupid computer in AGAIN for yet another power supply problem. i waited 5 days til the new one was shipped i brought it over yesterday and the computer powers on but it doesn't boot up anymore. no post screen.
the hard drives don't seem to look like they turn on anymore.
the guy blames a missing screw on the motherboard as the reason it doesn't work anymore. ive had more problems with my pc than ive had with my macbook.

A missing screw? The only way a missing screw on the motherboard would be an issue, is if it came loose, made contact with and crossed a circuit and shorted something out when you powered up.

The mere fact that your motherboard is missing a screw is not the problem, that guy is an idiot and a schyster, scam artist if he is telling you that a missing screw is the problem.

i wonder about that because there was nothing wrong with it starting up except for the fact the power supply broke. the guy even called me like a few hours later telling me it was the power supply because he put in one they had there and it worked. so something must have happend.
besides if he saw there wasnt a screw in the motherboard then couldn't he have just put one in before he tried to pull the power cord off the motherboard?

There are usually 8 to 9 screws holding a motherboard and like I said one missing isn't a problem unless it gets loose and then shorts something out when the computer is turned on.

The only other screws in the case are the ones that hold the adapter cards, optical drives and harddrives in and some cases don't even have those, like Thermaltake doesn't use screws to hold the cards, harddrives, or optical drives.

there wasn't a screw in this one hole on there. its like if the guy thought that the missing screw was so important why didn't he put one in before he started messing with my comp? i wonder.

A screw simply missing is not going to cause your computer to not work. You could take your Motherboard and connect it to the power supply and everything without it being in a case if you are careful and it will work.

no they didn't. the guy called me like 2 hours after i brought it in saying it was the power supply because he hooked up to a different one and it worked then and booted up then and all of the sudden when i brought over the new one i bought it wont boot up anymore..doesnt that seem odd?

The fact that it booted with the one that the shop had and then not the one you bought is odd, but not impossible. You could have gotten a DOA power supply, and it is easy to check, if his guy could again hook the computer up to the one he had in the shop that made it work.

i dunno what happend but the guy called me today and said it was fixed. he said a connection got loose and now it works fine and boots up fine. which is great because i need my computer back! its been a week!
boy am i glad it wasnt something more serious.
