Hello old friends,
I need help. I was told to come up with a new job title
my old one was Interactive Media Designer, but thanks
to the stuff I learned from this forum I am also
the Primary IT Administrator.
I maintain Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. Plus set up our servers
I don't want a simply title like IT Admin since I do alot more
also, I will soon be running the print department handling DVD Duplication and distribution.
I currently work on Web Design, Application Development, and Flash Programing, beside the primary IT Stuff.
Thanks

Could be a bit "dangerous" as there's nothing in there about databases.
How about 'Design, Communications and Systems Administrator' or 'Systems Engineer', as you do programming?

hmmm, how about "Server Developement Administrator" for something different? most people that I know that do what you describe call themselves "Systems Engineers" though.

I like system Engineer, but I guess they are going to call me an IT administrator for now. The plan is to eventually move me up to a Chief Information's Officer. But I have alot to learn first.
I haven't printed card. I think I will ask about System Engineer. It Sounds better.
Thanks

I've been in a similar situation myself lately, but mainly bc I dislike my archaic title of "Webmaster" at work.
So I'm hoping that's going to change to either "Web Director" or as my boss suggested, "Director of Web Content" - both of which sound a lot more official (and modern) than "Webmaster"
What I am not sure of though is what I'd call folks who work for me. "Associate Web Developer" maybe? The other folks in my department are already called "Web Developers" but the hire under me won't be at that level.

Titles Seldom mean anything. I have had similar happen in the past and my response was call me what you want, give me a job description and as long as the $$$ shows up on my pay check you can call me late for supper for all I care.
