There is a way to uninstall Vista and install XP, but the problem is finding the correct drivers for XP since the manufacturer will only provide the drivers that are compatible with Vista.

What is the name of the manufacturer of your laptop and what is the model number?

Dual booting is a way of having two operating systems available on one PC. With dual booting you cannot access both operating systems at the same time, but you can choose to boot to one or the other when you boot up your computer. If you only have one hard drive (since you have a laptop, I assume you do) you will need to partition the hard drive to be able to install two operating systems.

Go to link below and type in what system you have and select Windows XP for the drivers.

You will have to have all the drivers for the computer. You will also have to create a floppy disk with the hard drive controller drivers on it and utilize F6 to install those drivers while installing XP

It can be and it can be time consuming especially if you have never done it hands on. The worst part now days is some computer manufactures do not send a Vista DVD, they either send nothing or restore disk that just restores the image.

I have had one Dell that I never did get it working unless the BIOS was set to IDE mode instead of Sata.
