I'm getting a bit mad with Windows Longhorn because it WILL NOT play any video on any media player at anytime. Does anyone know how to fix it? But if you can tell me how to get rid of longhorn that would be great too.

Think a bit more info on the prob might help other members to narrow down your problem.

Well, I've tried the following media players to play .wma files and other video files.

Windows Media Player 9
Quicktime
RealOne Player
NiceMC Player
Winamp 3

All of them give me a "send an error report" message.

Heres the file which causes them to stop for each program,

Windows Media Player 9 - quartz.dll
Quicktime - quicktime.qts
RealOne Player - No Error Report here, It just stops responding
NiceMC Player - quartz.dll
Winamp 3 - quartz.dll

I've worked out that quartz.dll is related to playing .wmv files because I can't play 'em. But it seems to be the same with .mpeg/.avi.

Another thing, can anyone tell me how to uninstall Longhorn. The bad thing was that I didn't put it on a new partition, and I don't have a earlier version of windows boot disc. Can anyone help me out with that.

In the words or Arnold "It's Judgement day, I'm here to terminate the problems on my computer?!"

Theres some general information for ya for now. If you want anymore info just send out a reply.

i believe you did not install your longhorn very well, beside winamps is giving some error in longhorn.

if longhorn is install in primary partition or drive you must need either longhorn on cd or other version of windows to get system working again

Hi,
other folk have had similar problems with playing video files in longhorn. You need to reduce your video acceleration. you can check out some of the posts on this forum, especially this one. http://pronetworks.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15508 its titled "need help with wmp in longhorn"; it should have some useful tips.

You really should have installed longhorn onto a different partition, because LH4051 does not allow express upgrades. It only allows a new install. What this translates into is that if you installed LH4051 into the same partition as your previous version of windows, then your old windows installation is gone for good, except you made a backup, which i sincerely hope you did. I dont know of any way to uninstall LH4051, except by wiping your harddisk clean! Perhaps the other guys have tips....

I updated wmp9 before the lh installation and all of my media players wmp, realone, intervideo and creative all works fine. I think you should reintall lh and see if it makes a difference.

reinstall your longhorn and get most of these problems solved.

you can uninstall longhorn by formating your drive or partition, using winxp cd or win98 floppy or while in winxp right the partition and choose format.
