Nintendo has today announced that it will release a limited-edition two-tone Game Boy Advance SP in North America on February 9, 2004. The US$99.99 consoles, which are being released to celebrate the Game Boy's strongest year in its 14-year history, feature platinum bases with onyx lids.


"With more than 40 percent of Game Boy Advance SP players over the age of 18, the system is enjoying an expansion toward an older demographic," said George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "It's easy to see how these celebratory silver-and-black versions will appeal to an older audience. And with a limited supply, they're likely to become collector's items."

game boys are for playing games, not collecting. i've been through four, from the clear edition to advance. why would i want a gameboy to look at, not play with?

I'm not crazy about the look of the two tone either.

Another one of their money making tactics. But it also kinda gives you a reason to buy one if you don't have one.
