Not sure which DHCP client is installed with Knoppix. Maybe Weaver can tell us when he gets it running. It is probably DHCPCP or PUMP. You can get info on how to configure these at

DHCPCD - http://www.phystech.com/download/dhcpcd_man.html
I believe the command would be DHCPCD eth0 if you only have one NIC

PUMP - http://nodevice.com/sections/ManIndex/man1249.html
I believe the command would be pump -i eth0 for one NIC

If you have multiple NICs i.e. LAN1 and LAN2 on windows then the interface is whichever NIC is hooked up to your internet connection. If it is LAN1 then eth0, if LAN2 then eth1, etc....

Hopefully this makes sense, if not, let us know.

Shannon

Weaver, not a problem. I had my doubts when I downloaded it, so I booted it up on my Win ME laptop which had very little personal data on it. It works like a charm.

ISO that I downloaded turned out to be corrupted. Although I was not alerted to this until halfway through the install. Tried to burn it to a different cd in hopes that it was just a botched burn. No avail, have to download another. d*mn unreliable internet...who needs it...

I've done it! I'm running this on linux now with the Konqueror web browser. I haven't had the chance to check it all out yet, but it did auto detect all my settings! even my ethernet! so far, I like!

I'm impressed with the amount of programs included, buts it's not as polished as xp, thats for sure. Being free, Its certainly a great os, but given the choice, I'll stick with microsoft as my main os, maybe try mandrake next.
thanks for telling us all about it, Lil Wip.

You gotta keep in mind, that this is a "Demo" version only. So it definately not as polished. Full installs like Gentoo, Debian, Mandrake, and Redhat are much more efficient and come with a lot more features. It is also running a KDE desktop, which overall I am not impressed with. Gnome is much more polished. You will love the latest version of Mandrake, it is a sweet install and very very stable.
