India has got a good gaming market and Microsoft Corporation and Reliance Infocomm Ltd would jointly tap this potential while introducing more games, Microsoft India said today.

"Gaming industry in the country is on an upswing and this is evident from the overwhelming response we received for the Halo Championship", Microsoft India Manager (Home and Entertainment Division) Mohit Anand told reporters today.

Reliance Infocomm Ltd and Microsoft's gaming division - Microsoft Game Studios - conducted cash-based PC gaming tournament "Halo Multiplayer Championship" at the Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City (DAKC) in Navi Mumbai.

Around 12,000 competitors had taken part in the event, the biggest participation worldwide from a single country from amongst the 19 countries that are participating in the Halo worldwide championship, Anand said.

The finalist in India would take part in the finals to be held in Los Angeles, US, on February 17, 2004, he added.

Microsoft India would introduce its games available on x-Box through Reliance Web World by next year, he said.
