| best buy has a horrible return policy, i wouldn't buy things there unless i was sure i wanted it. if you buy something over thanksgiving weekend for a christmas present and whoever gets it doesn't like what you got them, its to late to take it back for a return. IMO walmart has the best return policy, they will take anything back, no fees, just have a receipt if you want your money back. sometimes they will take things back months after you get it. |
Each store and each different catagory of items have a different return policy. There is usually a 30-day return policy for each of the item and I think that is the same through out the stores. I usually buy an issurance plan from best buy so I can just swap it if it has any probs.

I know best buy here had a news broadcast about how bad their return ploicy is. Maybe their other stores are better about returns but around here they are terrible, I couldn't tell you the last time I have even been in their store.

| i see your point. netNomad, in my area, the only store that i know of that charges a restocking fee is best buy and i don't buy much there to start with, but you are right, there are a lot of online stores that don't allow you to return things period, some even for exchanges. |
I have literally taken dozen's of things back to Bestbuy from harddrives, video cards, to a washer and dryer and have never paid a cent in restocking fees. I have paid one though for CompUSA and that's normal for them.

Same here, I've returned my home theater systems and xbox cotroller with out paying anything, the return policy in all the branches should be the same.

I would think that too. That was part of the news broadcast about them. How each store changed the policy to suit the location. Maybe it is the way it is here because we have so many military people here. The stores never really gave a reason why they had different policies at each store. Like I said that has been a good while ago so now it may very well be different. I will call tomorrow and see what they policy is now at the store here.

OK I called our Local BestBuy and they told me I could not return any items that could be copied such as software. music etc.. that were opened as for other items it was at thier descretion to whether or not they would take it as a return and if they did it would have a 15% restocking fee. I also spoke with a friend of mine that purchases for the military and he said he was not allowed to buy from them due to the return policy and a couple other reasons he was not able to tell me.

That's pretty much the policy on software everywhere, but I have taken software back and exchanged it if it was a bad disk with no problem and I once got my money back on software. They acted like they didn't want to, but they did.

Stores doesn't accept software moneybacks with all these programs like gameXcopy and DVDxCopy out there however, I thought there was always a thirty day money back garantee on the other stuff.

I North Carolina the actual law states a store does not have to except any returns if they choose not to. Most stores do anyway so they can keep customers. It is sad that stores have to refuse some returns because of the way society has become.

In CT there is still a garanteed 30-day return on anything but software.
