Have you tried going to Hercules and getting the latest driver? Also, check your bios settings and make sure the primary card is set to AGP rather than PCI. Some motherboards default to PCI.
Also, that's an ATI based video card, not Nvidia I believe.

yeh checked mate, the only heating problem i have is there is not enough room on the motherboard to attached my exuast fan on the case. would that make it overheat?

So how many case fans do you have? Any?

It is an overheating problem that's probably causedby the lack of fans but I'd take the card back to the store I bought it and get a replacement. I think , eventually , it will start doing the very same thing even with ganes/apps with lower demands.

Definitely overheating if it lets you start and becomes instable later. That is an ATI GPU, and getting more airflow in the case as well as making sure the heatsink is not clogged and the fan is spinning well. The lates catlyst drivers along with the ATI control panel has a temperature monitor included for the GPU.

My son had an ASUS motherboard and everytime he put an ATI card in it, it would get so hot, you could smell it cooking. After some searching, we discovered that the particular chipset he had didn't really like ATI cards and this was a known problem.
