i have a hdd seagete, it was working fine, then... i restart de pc, and hang up.. it's sound awful, it doesn't recognize... i have alot of info there... what can i do to restart it?? saywhat omg confused

If it is a software problem, go to BIOS and then find primary or secondary slave stuff under BOOT features (i think) and then set from none to auto.

If that doesnt work, change the boot sequence to:
1) floppy
2) cdrom
3) hdd-0

then press f10 and enter and restart the pc and see if it works, if not than do a boot with win98 startup diskette and type fdisk and do some serious stuff man....

Normally a HD will give you some indication of failure. But you said it made an awful sound and then suddenly your PC does not recognize it…Well, sounds as if it has crashed and burned. My advice is making it a salve to another OS and try to retrieve your data before and if, it’s not to late.

The board when i restart de pc, it doesn't recognize... i have to wait a lot of time waiting when it's restarting.. and when windows start up.. none hdd ... i use fdisk.. and no hdd... in the Bios either found it.. nothing.. it sounds like a truck or something rare...

You might want to check the cabling, also do you hear the hd running at all?

i check jumper, and the bios, i ran the fdisk check and nothing... it's like is death, like is crashing inside.... saywhat
i use it like a slave... my primary it's ok.. and when the pc stop looking for it, it restar ok.. but the slave doesn't start up... saywhat wootlaugh omg anino

i do that... and nothing, i put it manual. and nothing.. just sound awfal.. i think is dead

it's no other option? to open it or something?

ok... the board is a MSI-6559 and the hdd is a Seagate model ST313021A,
i tested in a Soyo board to and nothing..
