Don't open it, it's just a bunch of discs inside. I think it might be dead, how long have you had it?

Check around in your area. There are companies that can retrieve your lost data. It just depends on how vital the data is to you and how much you are willing to pay.

Or you can get the software and do it your self although they are usually pretty expensive.

Drop it on the floor a few times. (Even the pros that you pay top dollar will do this as a last resort. If you have no more ideas, it wouldn't hurt. Sometimes it knocks it around inside if a part is sticking. Have fun and best of luck.

LOL, just make sure you've tried everything else before you do it. It might work though, but make sure you do not smash the thing so hard so that it will definitly break.
It might work though, you never know.

If you have checked the wiring and everything else and it still doesn't work, I really have nothing else to recommend, but to test your luck and try it on another pc.
