Do you know what mb you have, I would think that it is compatible since the mb can support 3ghz, and ht.

Whoa 800GHZ?
You have the fastest machine on the planet!

maybe ya meant 800MHZ

Chances are if you have a mass manufactured machine it is not dual channel capable.

The HP/Compaq Pavilion a450n does NOT support dual-channel memory. Not a great loss though unless you are geared towards Autocad.

About your video card - make it fly:
Don't use the HP driver (as it is .... hmmm.... 4-5 version back).
Go to http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_56.72 and get the latest driver. (That link assumes that you are using Windows XP or Windows 2000).

Hope that helps,
Harry

DICLAIMER: If you fry, burn, destroy, or in any way render your video card and/or any other component of your computer ususable THIS IS YOUR FAULT. If you are not sure about what to do ASK FIRST.
