yesterday i saw a thing for raid 5 arrays and i didn't know what it was so i did a search a couple minutes ago to learn about it and found a great site explaining the benefits and disadvantages of all the different arrays that are available. i think its a great source for people wondering about how the disks are set up and requirements for the arrays. Click here to learn about RAID arrays

I have used raid for a while and I highly recommend it to anyone who can afford it. I use RAID 0 (four 40gig HD’s) as my second drive. Thanks for the info.

I love my Raid 0. Its got several different sized drives in it from a 200gb to a little 20gb. i would defidently recommend this to anyone considering setting up a large (or even small) file server. Mine is at about half a terabyte full and access time is pretty decent for thoughs big vm machines and raw video dumps and much more organized than tossing a bunch of HD's in a tower. Absolute must have for all uber geek ssmile

there is a boatload of ways to do raid. even with us consumer types vs corporate types vs scientific communites....etc...
us consumers usually use the supplied onboard raid or buy relatively(i said relative here)inexpensive raid cards to run multiple drives albeit ide or scsi's.
i run internally raid 0 and externally(usb2) raid 1. it has worked very well for almost a year now.
now my real quick and dirty restore is my ghost disk.

RAID is a great thing right now i run a RAID 10 setup on my most mission critical apps which strips data and mirrors it acorss 8 different drives. For my more speed oriented apps on the servers i have a raid 5 setup with 8 drives that is lighting quick becuase it stripes with a parity drive so even if one fails the others are there to take up slack. On a side note on one of my servers i also have RAM mirroring

Hi everyone If the newegg questions were addressed to me then no I don't own newegg nor am I pushing it. The copnamy is owed by Tech data which is one of the largest parts whole seller. I am a hardware reseller and newegg is cheeper then my guys. all of thier parts are new and the lastest they just sell in large number and sell out fast. I have used them for year and I just wanted to offer that resource to everyone
