Well, I have been reading about Folding@Home for a few years now, but I finally have a reliable PC to run it on. I just replaced my 1.8GHz Pentium 4 HTPC with a Intel Q6600. So now I have the Pentium 4 set up to folding only, no other programs running and barebones WinXP. I will probably run folding on this PC until it finally dies. It has been a reliable PC (Dell Dimension 8200) since 2001 and I expect it to go another few years.
How fast is this supposed to go? I have only been running for 4 hours and I am 10% complete:
Name: p896_p53longpeptides_GB
Tag: P896R8C310G21
Download time: October 21 22:27:21
Due time: December 7 22:27:21
Progress: 10% [|_________]
500/5000
I also signed up as a member of the PROnetworks team since this is the first place I saw people talking about it.

it depends on the computer and work unit that your system is working on. I have an old dell here (4550?) and the first work unit i got took about 2 weeks, but a few others took about a day. My main system gets through them in about half the time as that system.

Great! Welcome aboard. You will not show up in the stats until you complete your first work unit(WU).Install FAHMon, rht-clk the left-hand white space and find your F@H install files. It will give you approximate ETA's and tell you how many points per day(PPD) you can expect if you're running the client 24/7 .
Hmm, it would be nice have another quad/GPU folding for the team. Please start a new thread if you have any questions about quad/GPU folding as many people have at the least a dual core and/or a proper ATI or nVidia 8xxx+ video card and will help those out. Happy folding!

Hey me too BILLMCC66 it seems like it is something that one needs to mess with read help in the FAH forums etc. which I don't have time to do, so I just let mine plug away and help out as much as I can.

I have spent hours with Augie and all the help forums but just don't seem to be able to get it just right.
today is the first time in over a year ( i was folding for another team ) that i have reached 1000 points in 24 hours, so lets hope i can keep it up??

Well, not to *beep* anyone off, but I've got the GUI working away on a virtual W7 install with Vista being the host and it's only using up %30 of my CPU usage so I think I'll bump this up to SMP CPU folding.
I may have to get more RAM, but at first blush it seems to be folding like it did on my old 1GB X2 rig. We'll see how much I can load this puppy up without it exploding on me!

It's nice to have a few new folders.
I took my folding machine down a few days ago for some maintenance and a few upgrades. Will be adding another GPU to my folding and will be upgrading the cpu to a quad core.
If my math is right I should be around 17k ppd once I am done.
