Hey guys its been a while since I've been here! I've been really really busy in real life and lots of stuff has come up. But I recently found out that im gonna be heading to hawaii this Febuary (im very very stoked lol) I am looking for a nice, reasonably good quality digital camera that I can use to document my trip. However, price is going to be the big buying factor in my purchase. The camera I have been seriously consitering is the HP Photosmart R927. I like the looks, its 8.0MP, and it has a large list of features. What do you guys think?

It looks good to me Corey but then I'm not much of a photographer, just an occasional snapper with a digital camera which is way worse than this one you want. The Zoom is a nice feature.

Something I'd suggest is that you get additional memory sticks for it as the capacity is only 10 pictures as far as I can tell, and I know from mine (a cheapy Kodak CX7300) which holds 20 pics, that those run out very quickly and then one can't take more till you've transferred them to a PC and deleted them.

Things change so fast with new models and greater capacity and new features that it may be worth waiting till closer to the time before you buy one though.

Does anyone else have any comments on this? If not, I will be ordering it and a 2GB SD card tomorrow evening.

I saw an ad for the Nikon D40, looks like a real nice entry level digital camera
http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=2&productNr=25420
with that you would get the quality of nikon, I belive you could probably get a kit for about
$400 us (kit being camera body, and one nikkor zoom lens like a 35-70)

EDIT
On top of that, it is a camera that would last you for a long time. I have two Nikons, both nearly 20 years old, still as good as the day I bought them. And I used them professionally for 12 years. (Neither digital now, mind you)

However, the price factor is there too still... I didnt even want to go over $200 at first but this one isnt bad... maybe if it was a little cheaper but I still gotta save up alot of money for the trip. Know of any other cameras that are cheaper and have lots of features?

I just got my parents a Nikon coolpix
http://www.nikondigital.com/main.html
was like 130 at bestbuy, ok but it wont give you the freedom or quality of
the D series. If you are not leaving for some time you might want to watch and wait
that D series has interchangeable lenses... shoots faster than these types of cameras
I believe it said it has a fast frame rate, like an film slr.
I googled the D40, and I believe a kit was $379, bet it drops this summer. smilenod

Sorry I dunno too much about the digi's I was a photographer from 87-98 digi was just making an
entrance when I moved from photography to networks. The only digital camera I ever used professionally
cost more than a house, and need a room full of computer equipment to run, that and darkness (it was a 4 pass ccd, cmyk) so other than my little Oly point and shoot, I have yet to drop the bucks for one yet.
But since I shot for money, taking photos, well I used to go out and shoot for hours, just for fun....
doing it for a living kind of robbed me of that.

lol its ok I dont know anything about them either... just basic specs. Just looking at the cameras on that website, most of them are beyond my price range and those that are are not of as good quality as the HP one I mentioned above. I would wait till the time is closer but I had been meaning to get one for this summer so I thought I would kill two birds with one stone if ya know what I mean.

Well I was googling for top cheap digital cameras and after going through about 15 diferant ones, I came across the Casio Exilim EX-Z1000. This camera is pretty nice from the looks of it the reviews are better then the HP. And it is cheaper smile What do you guys think? BTW the price on that website is alot more then what I am getting it for on Amazon.
