Hey all. Now, I can go find a nice point-and-shoot camera on Newegg for ~$250, but now my mom wants a Canon Rebel. She's not sure whether she wants the XT or the XTi, it depends on the price difference. It will mostly be used for capturing action shots, wakeboarding/soccer/baseball and stuff like that. As far as lenses, I think there's a 75-300mm lens that she really liked, since it zoomed far enough to see the back of the outfield but not as much as her friends lens that seems to zoom into stars at night lol (it's like 2 feet long). I guess she also wants the shorter lens that often is bundled with it, but I'm not 100% sure.

Anyway, when looking for prices, it seems they range widely and there's so many options that it makes choosing one a lot harder than grabbing a $250 camera off Newegg. Does anyone here with a bit more pro-camera experience want to point me in the right direction?

Edit: Well OK it doesn't have to be a Rebel, but that's what she's familiar with and basing everything off of. But if you can suggest something better for the same amount or less $$$, feel free to make a suggestion.
