OK, let's see who's paying attention.

We're batting around ideas here at PRO to start a daily contest (week days only) that's called Posts for Cash.

No, we're not going to pay you all for each post.

But we are toying with the idea of selecting one member, at random, every day of the month, to win a cash prize. Of course this probably means that only citizens of the US and Canada are applicable to "play."

The only catch would be that there'd be daily requirements. Simple stuff. Like you'd have to have answered one support question, and/or posted in an off-topic (community oriented) area.

How much is this worth? Well we're still using the abacus to play with the numbers, but we're considering a dollar amount that coincides with the day of the month (and you can win unlimited times a month). So on the first of the month, you're only working for a buck. But by the 30th, you're working for $30. All prizes would be awarded at the end of the month, so your total could potentially be as high as $500 in a 31-day month.

Not too shabby.

So we want your posts... your input. And we'll give you a good reason to do it. Who's game?

Consider this post our "exploratory committee..."

Oh, and sorry staff - this is for members (non-staff) only.

I may be the sole anachist here but I say NO, spend the monies on improving the site with new features. This will draw more posters with more diverce posts. Money for posts will just promote "Spam" posts for money. Sorry kanaloa really dislike the idea.

I think we should give it a go John...it simply shows appreciation for contributions to the community here and for providing good support thumbsup

BCGray, what sort of improvements and new features do you have in mind? Perhaps it's a good idea for us not to hijack this thread with that...hows about you starting a thread about that in community lounge?

That'd be a good idea... we ask about that from time to time, but it's been a while.

I said yes, but would like to see the lower level staff included, like moderators who do answer a lot of support questions. Its one way to reward them for their work, wheras should a regular member win , I dunno, just doesnt seem fair to me. IMHO

sounds like a good idea, but also sounds like a ton of people will join just for hopes of winning money.

Eh, of course I would like to see the lower staff be eligible for this too tongue but I can see why not so it's no big deal
I do think it's a great idea though to get the members posting more

they'll join for the money and stay because they'll find they like PRO. Quite a few of the members floating around currently joined for the chance to use Longhorn (including myself).
