I've probably asked this before (or other people have)

How do I configure my monitor resolution in OS X 10.4?? I only have 1024*768 available, and I want to add other resolutions. I just can't remember the config file name, or where it is located?

10.4 has spotlight, right? If it does, you could just search for it.

But it should be Apple in the left hand corner and then under System Controls or something of that nature.

It's a Kext file that has to be edited, I just don't remember which one, and where it is.

Are you trying to run OSX on x86 PC or you have a genunine MAC?
I haven't really used OSX before but since it's LINUX related you should be able to load a Kernel Extension (kext) like this :

sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/<YOUR_EXTENSION>.kext

OS X can only legally be installed on genuine Apple computers. For all intents and purposes this is a legal installation.

I person actually found a way to legally run OS X on any computer without breaking the EULA setup by Apple. I think they made some changes to things since then so people can't do this anymore, but at one point, you could have files load before the system would check to see if it really was a mac that would prevent the check and allow the system to boot.

As for modifying the resolution, I've never heard of any way to change it outside of through the system preferences option.
