ok yesterday i turned off my computer and in the morning i couldent turn it on the green light lights up but the red one doesnt and further more the monitor doesnt show any PC activity i think its the power supply but im open to sudgjestions

so your saying the lights on your PC come on ... just wont boot up?

Try reseating parts like the memory, the 20 or 24 pin cable connected to the motherboard coming from the power supply, the video card etc.
Are any of the fans turning when you turn it on?

the computer has a 20 pin power supply and the coolers spin 1 sec. and turns off no activity on the screen or anything no beeps either

Did you try taking the ram out and putting it back in, the same with any and all connections to the motherboard, and the harddrive. You can also try removing and putting back in the graphics card, but be careful if it is a PCI-E it will have a little release lever toward the end of the side that is away from where you connect the monitor.

ok figured out the problem thanks for all the suggestions the first think i tried was to remove the old power supply box and put in another one from an old computer and it worked

great, glad you got it fixed. I was hoping for your sake that it was just something had come loose, or wasn't making a good connection otherwise. Thought in the back of my mind that it was the power supply by the way it just pooped out, although a lot of things will do that also, e.g. CPU, memory, but you would have at least gotten beeps.
