I meant to post an update. The monitor is almost two years old, and usually I'd have to pay for shipping to them. But they are shipping it for me for free and will replace it immediately once they receive it. Not bad. Must mean that model had some issues they know about I guess.
In the meantime, I did get a new one - but I like it. I love the widescreen, even though it's not really great for the web just yet (everything looks too small, LOL). I've stuck with LG - overall I've been pleased with their products and their support/warranty was great.
