How much are they by the way?

Last I checked they're something like $1-2mil or something like that. Didn't know they made a convertable version, I've seen videos of them racing (legally and illegally). Don't know about the speed claim as I've never seen a video where they showed the spedometer, but they pretty much destroy any other vehicle in moving acceleration. Handling isn't the greatest from what i've seen, but it makes up for it in raw power accelerating out of the turns.

EDIT: And the non-convertable version has a reported top speed of 253mph, but yes, this vehicle is the fastest, street legal production car. You must note the street legal and production parts as there are plenty of non-legal vehicles that can top 250mph, and there are likely a few modified hi-end cars that can also top it, but nothing else can match those speeds straight out of the plant.

$1 - 2 million it would have to do more than go 250 mph for me to buy one. It would have to be like Bumble Bee but only transform into a house, or something else I and my family could live in.

Yeah, the handling isn't that bad, but when comparing it to some other vehicles, such as a porsche or lotus, both of which cost far less, it isn't so great. I saw a video of a Lotus Elise keeping up with the Veyron except for on straight stretches and it actually caught up enough to almost pass the it. Personally, I'd rather have an Audi R8 or a Porsche 911 GT2, possibly even a Dodge Viper ACR. Granted, they aren't 251mph cars, but they cost a lot less and can still move pretty quickly.

Agreed, there's plenty of cars out there that'll corner better than it, but then the thing does weigh 2 tonnes. That's a pretty big lump to be chucking around corners. The Lotus in the race you saw probably didn't even weigh a quarter of that. The other cars listed also have lightweight materials to make up the interiors, the Veyron is decked out in luxury wood, leather, aluminium, etc.

The other issue is the Veyron's traction control. Watching the video, Tiff Needell states that no matter what he does with the throttle whilst in the corner, the car doesn't respond, deliberately taking power away from the wheels to stop the driver from killing themselves. The question is, can you adjust the level of the TC? If it's just a simple case of on or off then that's certainly going to hurt it's performance, if you can adjust it so that it gives you more power in the corners, then it'll do a lot better.

The thing is with the Veyron, it was built to prove a point. The engineering that went into the thing to make it exist is staggering. The guys at VW (who own Bugatti) even said it was impossible when given the outline. The developed/refined sports cars that are out there will always have better overall performance than something that's, really, nothing more than a concept car that's gone on sale, but you can't take it away from Bugatti/VW for actually building the thing.
